The Apraxia Resource Center of Connecticut, is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to providing education, support and resources to families affected by Childhood Apraxia of Speech(CAS) and the professionals that treat them, so that each child is afforded their best opportunity to become independent verbal communicators. The organization began as an informal parent led support group and as the needs of the families grew we decided to incorporate and formalize our goals and objectives in order to provide better programs and support systems for families and professionals helping children with CAS. The organization is run by a volunteer-based board of directors, each who has a child or family member with CAS. Our Mission: Apraxia Resource Center of Connecticut, Inc., is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to providing education, support and resources to families affected by Childhood Apraxia of Speech(CAS) and the professionals that treat them, so that each child is afforded their best opportunity to develop meaningful speech. Our Goals: (1) To provide education, support and networking opportunities to families affected by CAS;
(2) To raise awareness of apraxia in our communities and school systems;
(3) To provide educational and training opportunities for school based Speech Therapist to gain a better understanding of apraxia and best methods for treating children with CAS;
(4) To assist families in Connecticut with the financial resources necessary to provide adequate speech therapy for their apraxic children.
